Tips On Choosing A Beach Bag
When buying a beach bag we recommend you consider the following:
1. Most beach beags are going to be used and abused during their lifetime. They're designed to be stuffed full of items, thrown in the back of the car, dragged over sand and rocks, splashed with salty water and generally used and abused to the max. For that reason, you want to look at a beach bag which is made from a strong and durable material, with sturdy seams and will withstand the beating. Canvas beach bags and nylon beach bags are some of the stronger materials you will find so opt for these where possible.
2. Zippers are important if you are going to store valuable items. Many beach bags are like a canvas bucket which are ideal for stuffing in beach towels etc. but hang open exposing your valuable to opportunist thieves and curious wildlife. Gulls will steal your lunch if you leave it in an open top bag!
3. Metal zippers and fasteners are best avoided as these are quick to rust when exposed to the combination of sand, salt and hot sun. Opt for plastic zippers and buckles where possible.
4. Long handle bags can be thrown over your shoulder to leave your hands free if you have young children or more baggage to look after. Short handled bags are ideal for carrying bulkier items like beach towels.
5. Pockets and side compartments are ideal for storing items you might want to keep separate such as your camera away from your wet beach towels. Many of the newer beach bags have cooler compartments too aimed at keeping food and drinks fresh.
